Default Second Best LT Headers? haha

So I really love the sound/design/power of the SG Motorsports long tube header design but not ready to spend the same amount of money on the headers as I did for the car ha.

Basically, Im looking for the 2nd best Long Tubes that make a decent power, as well as having that F1 sound(such as the SG motorsports). It will be going on a track build, so they can be LOUD! I will be running a similar Y pipe and most likely single straight pipe exhaust. Been doing a lot of research but nothing has really stood out there to me. Any help is much appreciated!!!

Oh and heres the SG Motorsports setup for comparison...

troll alert!! lol

SG longtubes are worth the money because not only the power they are proven to put down paired with cams, but their R&D is amazing...but the second best i'd say crawford since they are equal length tubing with great welds and quality

Haha I didnt mean to come off like that man...just trying to explain why i posted pictures for those who might not be familiar off hand. Trust me, even though I have 10 posts, I have been thread searching EVERYTHING for the past 4 months. No Troll here sir

I agree 100% with the SG headers being worth the money(you gotta pay to play). I just dont have a boatload to shell out for just headers ha. Crawford was my guess as well, but i just wanted to get second opinions.

Retail version comes in pieces, and each primary attaches seperately. Engine doesn't need to be removed to install. Install shouldn't be that hard. See:

define what you mean by "second best"

best what? to be used with what combo of parts? on what year car? alot of unanswered variables

why do they have to be a long tube?

I say second best because to me it looks lke the SG LT's are THE best. So I'm looking for the next best thing; not as expensive but still improves flow an HP over stock. I know a bunch of aftermarket headers can actually hurt power on this car.

It would be on a gutted 03 350z with bolt-ons.

Im thinking LT's if anything since I was under the impression that shorties dont make power. But im open to suggestions...

For an 03, without cams, no long tubes are worth it IMHO. I'll reserve judgement on the Supersprints since no one has ever dyno'd them that I've seen. I suspect that just like SG's, they will work really nicely on a stock revup, and not be worth the price of admission on a non revup.

As for shorties, they come in many flavors. Some work better than others. Few are worth the price of admission until you do cams, because a stock non revup cam just doesn't have the profile to take advantage of the header in the first place. You then get into other units like the Crawford (only one I know of it's type), where it's essentially a long tube header in a short tube package (so you still need test pipes). I am sure there are dyno's posted about their net changes on a non revup and revup alike from over the years.

Word, but if im not mistaken they no longer offer long tubes for the Z. I think someone on this forum tryed to contact them recently because at one point they were offering a set for the HR.

Edit: Just played around online and they wont ship to the US for whatever reason.

I think what you're going to find is there really is no "best" header to suit all flavors - the header has to compliment the cam, which has to work within the confines of the intake manifold. So it's simply a matter of getting the figures together for the various headers out there, combine that with the data for the manifold and camshaft you intend to run, and you (or your engine builder) should be able to find a combo that will play nicely with one another

not to mention that it will require custom work to mate up with your existing y-pipe which would put the cost very close to the sg's. that and are italian cars rhd? i'd be real suprised if a header made for a rhd car would fit a lhd car with no modification at all.

fwiw z1auto.com has tomei v2 headers for a good price(imo), granted its not a long tube but it is a quality unit for half the price
