Everything is together and running! I don't have time to comment and didn't do any tuning today, but I put together a DIY. I will post it officially later. Here's the link for now:
http://members.***.net/lawson370/350z_005.htm

Check out the bottom photos of the HR vs the DE header outlet. This thing sounds pissed off. I'm kinda scared to run around the back roads tuning it, because it will ruffle some feathers for sure. The true test will come Saturday at the Time Attack. I can't really get a feel for it on the streets. More commentary tomorrow. Enjoy.

I took the Z out for a couple data logs on the UTEC. What I am seeing is no real difference until 6000 rpm up to redline, where there is a slight decrease in airflow. I am pretty certain this is the result of the size difference between the test pipes and the OEM Y pipe. The Y pipe is now a significant bottleneck, and it is likely causing a lot of turbulence at the joint with the test pipe. As someone on these forums said, it's an exhaust system, so everything has to work together. I'll revive the thread once Motordyne gets their orders built and shipped.

Thanks for the info.. No idea what happened to mine.

Do I like the TP's?

Well, if there is anything to like about loud and smelly

They fit, they look good, they don't throw codes, they have a nice 2.5" ID, and they don't make the rasp and hiss that people complain about. Other than that, they are test pipes- loud and smelly.

The car used to sound aggressive, now it sounds really aggressive. I have been doing tuning runs down the backroads with the silencer off, disturbing the peace and whatnot. I will try taking it into work tomorrow with the silencer on to see if it's reasonable for driving on the street. Frankly, high flow cats are much nicer. I just have to wait awhile to buy a cat insert for the XYZ pipe. Then it will probably be civilized.

I ran the car on my normal race tune and it showed pretty comparable results on the UTEC to my old setup. This tune is the one I spent the most time optimizing. The one I was testing before was the one for an increased rev limit, which runs in open loop. It was kind of quick and dirty, so I don't know if that had anything to do with the results. I can't wait to get the missing link- the Y pipe- to see how this plays out. If it sucks , I may get some Megan long tubes instead.

This is awesome for the hr guys SG motor sports is coming out with the longtubes for the DE. If they are interchangable then they would bolt up to the HR. Hypothetically speaking if there is a problem with the piping you could have a machine shop fix some of the piping to fit properly. Others please chime in on what they think?

just get megan LTH fix the collectors and call it a day, you'd save ~$2000.

sasha makes a great product but the price is way out of most peoples budget for headers.

sort of related but are the test pipes/hfc for an hr motor compatible for the de? Or are they more like the 370z setups?

The HR flange is different than the DE, so you can only use DE headers and DE test pipes together, and HR with HR.

Did you ever dyno to judge the gains and what the curve looks like now?

Sorry for being off the boards for a long time...
I never got a dyno from just the headers, but I did get dyno'd. Trouble is, I have so many other mods now, you wouldn't know what worked and what didn't. Pop charger, Kinetix V+ plenum, HFC's, UTEC tune yeilded 249 whp. Adding JWT C2 cams and valve springs, '07 headers, resonated test pipes, XYZ Y pipe with cat, and AAM single 3" exhaust, with UTEC tune, came out at 262 whp. Pretty sad, huh? I was probably better off with stock cams. If I think about it, I will scan the dyno chart and post it.

Sounds like you need a better tune. Does Utec have the capability that Uprev does for cam timeing?

Did you lose low end torque with the c2 cams? I was looking into the S1/S2's

Sound clips also...

What I need is a better intake manifold and throttle body setup, and nobody is interested in developing them.
Old dyno 249.5 whp:

Sorry, I don't know how to rotate the image.
Frankly, I am sick of trying to get power out of this motor N/A and have quit driving it. I need 70 HP more to be competive in time attack, and it can't be had without adding FI. Sure, Sasha did it, but he spent a lot of time developing some real expensive parts, and they aren't for sale.

I installed headers from a 3.7 to a 3.5 all you need to do is switch the 2 middle studs on the block where they mount to along with sensor. Now I did that with motor out of the vehicle. My question is I need test pipes for 3.7 will they fit my 04 y pipe?

The cat side of 3.7 is the same as the DE. It is only the Header flange of the Cat that is different between the DE and HR
