370z Nismo Muffler On 350z
For the past month Ive been contemplating between an HKS knockoff or a Nismo catback testpipes and within my search I landed upon the 370z Nismo exhaust finding out its somewhat of a dual exhaust. I then tried comparing both Nismo exhaust and realized the hangers on the muffler seem to be the same except the most forward hanger which is reversed on the other. Was wondering if anyone has tried mocking up just the rear muffler of a 370z or if anyone has measurements from the left exhaust tip to the right. I really would like to get the Nismo catback since it has less rasp with test pipes due to the actual muffler but then again I wouldnt mind a dual exhaust for slightly more power gains, a hybrid would be perfect. Heres a Stillen 350z exhaust and the 370z nismo to compare hanger locations, Im not interested in the Ypipe or anything just the muffler section and IF possible maybe the piping up to the cats. I dont mind relocating some exhaust hangers either, thanks.

Why not just get this?

you know it's going to fit with out have to modify it.

you're making this about 1000x harder than it needs to be
there are zero similarities between fitment on a 370Z and 350Z. Essentially - you need an exhaust for a 350Z, or you need to make your own.
true duals don't make any more power than a properly setup single + Y pipe

I essentially just wanted to use the rear muffler portion as the rest can be fabbed up at an exhaust shop. Mainly I wanted it because it uses an actual muffler instead of the free flowing/basically resonator mufflers so when I put on my test pipes I can keep the rasp and backfire report to a minimum.
Also I try to stay as close to OEM as possible, reason Im willing to fab up that rear muffler section since it's Nismo. Don't get me wrong I know there are aftermarket parts that might give slightly better gains but to me it seems cleaner to try to stick to one brand instead of being a mut especially visible mods, it's just preference. But Im not saying I don't use aftermarket parts either just try to stay close to the roots of the car when I can.
Anyway, all Im looking for is to see if the tips are even somewhat close to lining up as Im willing to bet the muffler is almost identical if not the same as the 350z Nismo exhaust.

Seems like way too much headache just to have a Nismo 370 muffler that is not even designed (fit/function) for the 350. How much will custom fabbing a cat-back pipe cost? How much for the work to custom fab the 370 muffler to hang correctly?
Go with parts designed to fit and flow with the 350 unless you like to experiment.

Well, compare both exhaust up top. The exhaust tips and hangers closest to them seem pretty much close to being the same, it is not like its drastically going in a different direction. Aslong as those 2 hangers line up and the exhaust tips are inside the cut outs, having a shop run 2 straight pipes to 2 resonaters than into the stock y-pipe would barely be that expensive, Ive heard $200 tops locally with me supplying the resonators. It's not like the exhaust on the 350z is that complicated or makes any real turns, its pretty much straight.
As a side note, I never said I was dead set on making this work because like I said in my original post I was planning on going with test pipes + 350z Nismo catback, I was just curious as the dimensions so instead of saying "Go buy a 350z exhaust" can someone who actually has a 370z come up with any measurements? Thanks.

I have both OEM mufflers. Top hangers are the same. Lower hanger is on the wrong side on the 370Z muffler. Outlet centers are identically spaced, however the tips themselves are shaped differently, so may or may not fit. I haven't accurately measured the distance from the top hangers to the outlets, but it "looks" very close to the same. Tips protrude virtually the same distance. Inlet flanges are properly spaced to fit the 350Z.
I also have the intermediate pipe from a 370Z. I didn't have a 350Z intermediate pipe to directly compare to, so lifted the car and placed it under and eyeballed a few things. The length "looks" ok, but given the 370Z is shorter than the 350Z, theres a chance the pipe might be a bit short. Driver side pipe will clear the sway bar, passenger side WILL NOT. Flange to Y-Pipe is identical as 350Z. If needing to add length, it should be added so that the driver side and passenger side hangers line up with the existing body hangers.
The driver side hanger is identically placed as the OEM 350Z intermediate pipe. The passenger side body hanger is not there, however, the mounting location exists on the chassis. 370Z passenger side hanger fits the 350Z chassis, and I believe there was a tapped hole to bolt it in(I did this a long time ago, so I can't remember 100%).
The 350Z rear subframe has an aluminum bracket welded to the driver side for the lower rear muffler hanger. There are no provisions on the passenger side to use the existing lower hanger on the 370Z muffler. The hanger has to be relocated on the muffler, or the bracket on the subframe (I'd swap the one on the muffler).
I have a 2007, which doesn't come with the integrated diffuser on the OEM muffler. Older models came with the integrated diffuser. It can't be easily reused with the 370Z muffler. It has no provisions to mount it, and the inlet flanges make it virtually impossible to locate the diffuser in the same location without a lot of work.
I hope this was helpful.

Why don't you just buy a Nismo S-Tune exhaust that will give you the sound your looking for and basically looks stock? Even after reading your posts, I see no benefit in continuing this route.
Thank you so much, exactly what I was looking for you were more than helpful
Well like I said I was going with the Nismo S-Tune and test pipes but it doesn't hurt to gain some more knowledge or trying something different. I just really liked the design for the 370z nismo exhaust and wish we had something similar but now that doesn't seem to be too far fetched thanks to the info T_K gave.

The major issue is the rear muffler hanger (which is actually minor), and the sway bar clearance. The OEM sway on the passenger side already has a pretty tight clearance. The driver side might actually fit as is.
I haven't had a chance yet to compare the rear sway bars between the 350Z and 370Z. They don't seem to have hit the rock bottom prices of the OEM sways of the 350Z, so I haven't acquired one to really look into it. However, if there was a way to use them, it would make the exhaust practically bolt on, aside from the single muffler hanger.
