Default 350z berk test pipes-ecu install

i came across this on berks website for the ecu reset after install.

1. Confirm that accelerator pedal is fully released, turn ignition switch ON and wait 3 seconds.
2. Repeat the following two procedures quickly five times within 5 seconds:
1. Fully depress the accelerator pedal (HARD).
2. Fully release the accelerator pedal.
3. Wait 7 seconds, fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for approx. 10 seconds until the CEL starts blinking.
4. Fully release the accelerator pedal (while the CEL is still blinking)
5. Wait about 10 seconds.
6. Fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for more than 10 seconds.
7. Fully release the accelerator pedal (The CEL light will continue to blink).
8. Turn ignition switch to OFF position and now you can start the car. The CEL light should be gone.

has anyone done this? and has it worked?

im going to get them installed tomm, and wondering if the light does come on by chance, do these steps usually solve the problem?

thanks

I installed test pipes. No problem with ECU.

Note: Disconnect battery before installing.

That would be the long, recommended process of resetting the ecu. The easier, faster way is to disconnect the battery, I can't remember off the top of my head if it was just the negative, or positive side, I forget which one I did, and then just press the gas pedal a few times and leave it for a few hours. Should be reset.

hey guys just do do a follow up. i followed the steps listed on berks site for the ecu reset but it did not work. i tried multiple times, bc i heard you have to be spot on with ur timing, i even used a stop watch but it still didnt work. i have an 06 an i heard it doesnt work with this yr. however i did follow stevehl steps by disconnecting the battery (its the negative not the postive) and it worked !!! thanks for the tip.

but stevehl is this just a temporary fix or do you have to do it occassionaly disconnect the battery bc the check engine light returns?

ECU Resetting Procedures

Timing is extremely critical. If it is NOT DONE within the specify time, the ECU will not reset and the Check Engine Light (CEL) will continue to remain ON.
A stop watch or an analog clock with a second’s needle will be useful.

Operations Procedures

1. Confirm that accelerator pedal is fully released, turn ignition switch “ON” and wait 3 seconds.
2. Repeat the following steps (2a and 2b) procedures quickly five times within 5 seconds.
2a. Fully depress the accelerator pedal (HARD).
2b. Fully release the accelerator pedal.
3. Wait 7 seconds, fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for approx. 10 seconds until the CEL starts blinking.
4. Fully release the accelerator pedal (while the CEL is still blinking)
5. Wait about 10 second.
6. Fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for more than 10 seconds.
7. Fully release the accelerator pedal (The CEL light will continue to blink).
8. Turn ignition switch to “OFF” position and now you can start the car. The CEL light should be gone.

I have used this and it worked fine

i use this all the time immediately before I go get my inspection sticker. It takes away the CEL for about 40 miles

I stuffed the anti fouler that berk provides with their 08 test pipes with really fine steel wool and re-connected the o2 sensors. Did the ECU reset procedure and passed emissions. Before that I would just delete the code with a scanner but it would come up around 15-20~ miles.

Anyone know why HFC/testpipes with the bung for the sensor trips the CEL in the first place?
