Default K&N Air Filter

Ok so this is what im debating on, getitng the k&n drop in air filters or can I replace the stock air box (dual HR) with the k&n cone style filter? I know that the g35's can just replace their stock tubes with the Z's and add the cone type filter so can I just remove the air box and connect the filter?
Filter specs is 3" Diameter, would this be possible? I guess its like the jwt pop charger without their tube/filter.

yes but u would in fact be drawing warmer engine bay air into your intake than stock (since the stock intake boxes are sealed from the engine bay to suck in only outside air), and you will therefore lose horsepower and you will be teh ghey.

you have an hr 350z right? And what are you looking for? hp? louder engine sound? growl? I say get the jwt popcharger. Sounds and looks great. If youve read enough intake threads, you should know, they all do the same thing. Little to no power gains, and some will say negative gains. So go for looks and sound.

however, if your looking for any hp gains, get the k and n drop in filter. That is your best bet for hp increase, maybe like 1 or 2.
