Default Circle thing handing from rear of bumper

Hey guys,

Ive been hearing a rattle/bad rasp in the 2k range, so I decided to go under the car and see if anything was wrong. While I was down there, from behind the car where the heat shield is and my hks mufflers, I saw a circle thing hanging from the car. The "string" or metal "string" is maybe 6 inches long and at the end is a circle, almost like a round nut. Wondering what that was and why it is dangling. I will have pics up in a little bit, thought maybe someone might know without any pics. Thanks.

Ground strap that went to your OEM exhaust. Whoever installed the aftermarket one didn't bother to hook it up.

so where should I hook that up to? Any bolt on the heat shield?

My car has been making rasp/rattle sounds at 2k rpm, do you think this could be the reason? Or is there something else? It only started after I got tp's installed.

TP cause the rasp. The ground is connected to one of the bolts that hold your OEM muffler to the midpipe.

Are you sure the tp's are causing the rasp? I drove around for a few hundred miles before they started making a nasty noise when i start to drive off in the low rpms. It doesnt sound like that any where else in the rpm range....

If this was the reason peoples' exhausts rasped... everyone's head would explode.

I had TPs with my Evo2 and the 2k-3k RPM range was where the rasp was the worst. One of the reasons I got rid of it.

as stated all tps are gonna rasp. However i dont think mine sounds "cheap" or "terrible". I actually like the sound of my exhaust to the T. alos consider ART pipes. Pricey but from what i read it kills most rasp. you bought the AAM single right? and i dont think its gonna make a diff to have the ground wire hooked up on ur exhaust. I took mine off. Heres a Vid of Cheap sound i guess

A resonator in the exhaust may help out with the rasp, but you're gonna get some of that any time you put straight pipes on an N/A car.

^^ I was thinking of doing that, but didnt know if it would be harmful or not. I mean, its gotta be there for a reason, for grounding. I think I will just bolt it when I reinstall the exhaust.

Taken from the HyperGround description:
Sun Auto now offers specialized earthing straps to properly ground your exhaust system to the chasis. Based on research & development of the HGS, the new Exhaust Earth is designed to maximize exhaust efficiency by minimizing static electricity that obstructs exhaust flow inside the muffler. Benefits include: Increased torque response / reduced static electricity in exhaust / reduce vibration noise from exhaust / improve corrosion resistant of muffler. Use w/ HGS for cumulative performance enhancement!

I knew it had something to do with static electricity but performance gains, doubtful.
