Default PopCharger Filter

Mods, move this if need be:

I was cleaning my PopCharger filter today and as I was blowing the debris out with my air compressor, I noticed something. How freely should air flow through the filter itself? I noticed that the air was VERY hard to feel coming through the other side. Not sure if this is normal or not, but I would think that air should flow rather freely. I can't really say I've noticed any lag in the pedal, but I have started to hear a slight "hissing" sound when I accelerate as soon as it got a little colder here, thus prompting me to clean it this time around. This sound was different from the normal sound of the filter. I've had the filter for about a year and have cleaned and charged it about 4 times but have never really payed attention to what the flow rate of air should feel like.

Any toughts?

lol well a filter is going to slow down air flow because it needs to filter out stuff, meaning the stuff use in the filter need to have certain size holes because if to big then your getting debre threw...... If you want better flow why not try the kn filter. and try the air compressor test on that one.

You should never use compressed air on a filter, thats a good way to damage it.

It's normal, but you should really use a filter cleaner, not compressed air. Compressed air doesn't really do anything.

I dont used compressed air to "CLEAN" it.... cummon.... JEBUS!

I use a little air (not with a focused attachment) to blow the debris out of the center cone area, get the outside with a soft brush, then use the filter cleaner solution, let it air dry, then apply the charge oil.

Anyone ever heard of these?
Non-oiled airfilters that fit right into the jwt setup.

I know that R2C makes one that Kyle has on his site. It states higher flow rates even though it is not the open ended cone style.

Pretty normal, my AEM CAI came with a dry filter straight from the factory.

While it might seem that air isn't flowing optimally, it really comes down to how permeable the filter element is. What may seem like less-than-optimal air flow with an air compressor is most likely remedied by the fact that intakes suck in air - air isn't pushed through the filter.

Or, you could by a new filter and call it a day
