Default Berk Test Pipes

I was wondering if Berk makes resonated test pipes? I tried looking it up but clearly didn't look hard enough...

If so, does anyone have a link?

I was looking at the Megan TPs but heard that some people had issues with them cracking. If Berk doesn't have resonated TP which company has them that you guys would recommend?

Thanks

Berk Test pipes are not resonated. Ichiba and Megan are resonated.

more of the cracking issues come from using a nismo y pipe or a bad install...do not use a nismo y pipe and u should be fine with whatever you choose...i ran berk test pipes with a motordyne xyz with the resonator

Berk doesn't offer a resonated version of their test pipes (at least not one that I am aware of). If you decide against resonated and want Berk Test Pipes, I have a set that is in near brand new condition. If your interested feel free to PM me.

Thanks for the response guys. I just found these on Ebay (I know...Ebay...ugh).

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/350Z-...#ht_2026wt_939

Has anyone heard of the quality of the Top Speed resonated test pipes?

My girlfriends dad is a Nissan master tech who installs all my parts so if the Megan cracking issue is truly an installation issue it wouldn't be a problem.

Thanks again

Get quality parts and have less headache. I believe GTM makes resonated tps.
What year is your Z/G?

It's a 2003. I really just want to know who makes quality resonated TP besides Megan and Ichiba.

I found the GTM Res TP but they are $360 which I think is ridiculous for TP.

Do not know. Difficult to prove that a company does NOT make something. But we know what companies do make them.

So Megan and Ichiba are the only known companies to manufacture them?

I realize I can find other companies that make res TP, I was wondering about quality companies. I guess I'll try the Megan since they seem to be the best bang for the buck and they also have a flex pipe.

Well I got the Megan TPs put on as well as a plenum spacer and the car runs great (put about 200 miles on it since they were installed). Sound is an amazing improvement compared to my Borla TD exhaust without TPs. Only bad thing is that the spacer triggered the CEL (the TPs did not) but I haven't even tried to clear it yet and even if I can't I'm not too worried about it.

These two mods are probably the best ones I've done for the money (Megan TP was $120 and the spacer was $75 used). Sound is much deeper and more aggressive with minimal to no rasp. Acceleration has improved over all RPM ranges and I'm getting around 1 MPG increase but haven't drove enough to say that for sure.

All in all, if anyone is worried about the Megan Test Pipes I say go for it and buy them if you want resonated test pipes. Just make sure you get them installed by someone who knows what they are doing (Took my girlfriend's step-dad about 30 minutes for the TP and 45 minutes for the spacer...he's a Nissan Master Tech) and you shouldn't have any problems.

Hope that helps anyone who's considering them.

Cheers,

Not true... It all depends on your setup (ypipe, catback or dual etc) i just installed edge racing resonated tps, this is paired with ebay ypipe and top speed 3in. catback. my car is sooo danm loud with some rasp from 3.5k+ with the catbacks that have no mufflers, just resonators, your car will act totally different than say an greddy evo 2 or nismo s tune. just my .02

That's what I thought too but I started the car when the TPs were installed and it didn't light up. Once I turned it on again after the spacer it light up. I'll get a reading at the end of the week to shed some light on this. Car runs great though so I'm curious what it's going to tell me.

About the rasp question, like he said, it all depends on your setup. I have the Borla True Dual which have resonators in the muffler and then I also have resonators in the test pipes. However, if you throw on a different y-pipe or have a slightly different setup it might be a different story.

Looks like a spoke a little too soon. I was driving yesterday and heard a "whistling/swisshing" sound emanating from under my car when I let off the gas (above 2000 RPM). I'm 90% sure it's the Megan pipes unless it's the Borla exhaust which I don't believe it is since I've been driving with it for over a month without a problem (I put the test pipes on about six days ago).

I'm going to have them welded in about a week and close the leak and probably weld anything else that looks like it is going to produce a leak. I'm not going to say don't buy Megan products but it's like most people said that there is a higher risk associated with them than with other manufacturers.

I'll let you guys know what I find out when I put the year on the life in about two weeks.
