Default Nismo CAI - Splash Shield

I purchased a Nismo CAI, and I just have one worry. When I install the intake there is a spot damaged on my shield, and I don't want any water to be splashed into the filter and somehow cause a hydrolock.
I did some search on the forums, but they say only large amounts of water will cause an engine lock. I also don't have the bottom engine shield. I'm just trying to be safe
Should I worry about it?

It doesn't rain to much over here, but we do get occasional snow during winter.

Get a new fender lining before installing the filter, you are going to have to purchase a new filter every month otherwise from the damage you will cause.

I have had my cold air intake for over 5 months and haven't had a undershield on my car, and it's been fine.

Then hydrolock shouldn't be much of a concern.

Update: I've had the CAI installed now for about 3 weeks.
I turned the filter so that it faces more toward the bumper and less toward the hole. I have problems with sharp right turns, where it will scrape the shield because the intake pushes against it. but luckily its always at low speeds.
I may have installed it improperly, but I'll try to fix it tomorrow.

I already ordered my new guard, so I don't have to worry about constantly cleaning the filter.

Over all, great sound, the same as when I had a pop charger.
I did have to do the ECU and Idle Re-learn.
The idle is still a bit jumpy, but doesn't affect throttle response.

^how are u able to turn the filter? the lower part of the cai only attaches one way. only thing u can adjust is how close the piping lays against the frame.

cut a section of screen and zip tie it to the liner... get some Flex seal...
