Recently I installed the TopSpeed True Dual (hks rep) on my 2004 350z. fitment was not near perfect. all the hangers are stretched like hell and the passenger side pipe is laying on the sway bar which is making an awful "metal noise". Called the guys at TopSpeed and they said they have never heard of that problem before. I've tried everything I could think of to fix it.. messing with hangers, tightening all bolts up, etc. and nothing has worked. yes it is a stock sway bar. other exhaust parts I have on the car are eBay headers, and berk test pipes. anyone know of a solution??
100 bucks at midas, they can heat it in non visible areas and correct the fitment... pretty standard for that exhaust.
Also, i went with urethane exhaust hangers so they dont wiggle and hit anything at all. they are a ***** to install, let the pros do it.

Thanks. It's just weird because I searched and couldn't find but one guy with a similar problem. I hate to bend it.. just feel like I'm messing up the flow. but I'll prob consider it.

Just called Midas and they said they don't know of anything to fix it. And if they were to to heat it up, they'd have to heat it and then hammer it and basically put a dent in it to give it the clearance it needs. it's stainless steel so it's not like bending regular steel. So that option is a no no. any other possible solutions?
sounds like your in the sticks then.. ah yes NC.. are you rural?
Midas in scottsdale heated it and pulled on it.. and the only time i ever see it is if im under my car.. you cant see it from the back, even if you had a bumper tuck.
It discolors the SS, makes it a bit yellow etc..
dunno man, thats the only way to get it to fit.. call other muffler shops, recite what i said to them, and the one who says" yeah, we could do that" is where id take it.
SOunds like your local shop is full of simple techs, guys who take off and put on parts, etc.
this is what the threads all mean by "fitment issues".. very common.
Mine was done in a day dropped off at a Midas.
tips line up right now too. and yes, they sit VERY close to the sway bars.. they all do.

If you exhuast was rubbing or tapping your car, it would be felt as well as heard.
My exhuast has tight fitment but it's not a metal noise, your experiencing 'RASP'!

Well.. it could be something other than the sway bar I guess. How did you find out it wasn't the sway bar? Because at first I thought it was just an exhaust leak and didn't find any. It's kinda hard to describe I almost wish you could hear my car to diagnose it lol.
if its hitting your sways there will be a mark.
im sure hes talking about a "while im sitting here installing it its bumped up against my sways" kind of deal.. versus a "Im driving and hear a weird sound".
Am i right Murray?
plan on buting out the magnaflow resd x pipe mod too.. makes that exhasut much nicer. 70 dollar part, 100 install. may fix your fit issues as wellsince both cans and sides will be cut and free to be repositioned..

That's also something I thought of! But my previous set up was really raspy.. (berk test pipes with stock exhaust was rasp. This I'd a solid almost metal/whitsly type sound. It's hard to describe, but it's def not supposed to sound like this.

Just ask a muffler shop to cut and reweld it. Trust me these knock offs are horrible when it comes to fitment. My M2 was hitting the diff and the hangers did not reach the rubber holders. So i just had the pipes cut, realigned and rewelded. We did this because it was faster than trying to bend it to the "right" angle. I mean you get what you paid for so it didn't bother me too much to cut into it.
