350z Borla Exhaust Opinion/Experiences From Owners
Hows it going guys? Im very close to purchasing a Borla Exhaust based on what I have read as far as my set up goes. Im all for w.e. sound it gives and w.e. performance it has. My question is what experiences have you guys had with them as far as leaks, rust, durability, and material ect ect. Any regrets/headaches? To my understanding people who usually have problems if they do is leaks due to there clamping of the pipes. If you happen to be person who decided to weld some pipes which one did you weld. Thanks guys for your time.
I have one sounds pretty good I think. No rasp what so ever unless you have test pipes. PErformance wise you notice a little difference. I've had mine on for a few years and have noticed no rust or leaks or anything. Seems great to me! Good luck if you decide to purchase it you won't be upset.
Couldn't be happier with mine. I've had it on since 03 with the clamps used and only the H pipe welded. After first installing I had a hissing sound coming fromt the H pipe so we welded it and problem solved.

I have one with the magnaflow X-pipe welded in place of the h-pipe and i love it.
Install wise: I bought it used and found that after install I had some vibration coming from the passenger side tail pipe hanger hitting the mount. I believe it was caused by me not slipping the pipes together far enough so be cautious. Mine was used so all the force I could apply to slip the pipe in further did me no good since it was a bit corroded - instead I heated the hanger and repositioned it lower and voila - no vibrations. (tips still lined up well) Just giving you a heads up.
Enjoy it!

I've had mine on for 2 years. I used all of the clamps and I have no leaks or cracks yet. Stays in storage for the winter so rust isn't a problem. I took my time and made sure I inserted each pipe section as far into the next section as possible. I did notice a hissing sound once I installed Berk HFC. I don't hear any leaks in the exhaust so I'm just chaulking it up to the cats.
I will add that If you are looking for more sound you will need HFC or test pipes. Just the Borla cat back isn't loud enough. Just my opinion.

As far as sound to be honest with you I can care less. I really like how the Z sounds stock, but I will definitely be adding some text pipes. I know its going to be a bit load a maybe raspy but Im content with that. I would like the airflow.
Borla makes a great product. When I decided to put on an aftermarket system I looked at Borla(had one on another car I owned)and many others.I am lucky to be in an area where there are alot of Z owners.I was able to hear the exhaust and get feedback from the guys.I ended up going with a NISMO system. The Borla was good but had a drone that bothered me since I do alot of hwy driving.I also liked the Stillen. But,for quality, fast bolt on(its NISSAN)and SOUND,I like the NISMO best. The Borla has great quality but,I am probably in the minority,a little too bassy for me.After installing the Nismo,I added
Kinetix resonated test pipes. Its a great set up.

I have test pipes as well and when I had my Borla it hissed after putting those on. I was told it's a common sound caused by the test pipes because I know everything else was fine.
Anyways when taking it off I'm pretty sure I only need to actually slide 1 pipe out and after that remove the hangars and you can take the exhaust off as a whole. The pipe that NEEDs to be taken out is the one that goes over the sway bar connecting the muffler and mid pipe. I think it's the passenger side!

Thanks for all the feedback guys, I bought the borla system, kinetix test pipes, and the magnaflow x pipe to replace the borla h pipe. After doing a lot of research i believe that this will be the best set up for this kind of exhaust. The x pipe supposedly besides adding power to set up. It will neutralize the hissing or raspy sound that the test pipes produce. So all in all I think I made a good decision. As far as welding it I am planning on welding everything but still make it practical to take off.

Hey there,
Just put in my borla true dual on my Z and yup, hissing sounds. I'm gonna lift it again soon and try to tighten everything up. But as for welding the h pipe, did weld it only at the middle joint? Or did you also weld it at the other four pipe connections?
