Its possible because the headers are a poor fit. Its common to disconnect the steering linking during installation, but after installation, the steering linkage must be clear.

You know what doesn't cost $175? Quality headers. Congrats on your super expensive paper weights.

I picked up a set of dc sports headers that required dismantling my steering rack to install.

These may require the same effort and the only way you'll know if they truly don't fit is if you try. Of course, they may not net you any gain whatsoever.

I'll keep my eye on maker place for the sweet deal.
You should buy SG Motorsport headers.

no offense dude but cheap ebay headers that dont fit correctly sound like garbage. My buddy bought them for his 323i and we put them on. They were very difficult to get on, it took a whole week because fitment was so terrible and they rasp like no other. It may just be an old gasket that is no good where the header meets the manifold that causes it but it really rasps =/ otherwise, if you eliminated the rasp it would sound SEXY. Good luck!

All headers for the 350Z are a tight fit. As you know other exhaust components have a bit of room for "tweaking". But headers are bolted on one way - they are not going to more. You will have variations like motor mount wear and flex. The same headers that will NOT fit one 350Z WILL fit another. Good luck.

On a more positive note, the best headers would be either the Crawford or SG Longtube headers but they will run you a pretty penny.
