Default Wrapping intake with Heat shield tape

Hello Folks,

Not sure if anyone has asking this before, I was considering wrapping the intake (short ram) with a heat reflective tape that DE and Mishimoto sells ..the gold type..Not sure if this is going to look tacky but will it provide any , miniscule gains?? just trying to avoid heat soak.

Does not do anything, waste of time. The best thing you can do to a SRI is make sure the filter is properly shielded from the heat of the eng compartment. The JWT popcharger heat shield does an excellent jod of doing this. While data logging my JWT setup pull the same temp air (while car is in motion) as a CAI. The difference in temp between ambient and AIT is 7 to 10 degrees.

With a perfect intake system to include manifold, you could only get 7 to 10 degree cooler air.

The best thing you could do to reduce heat soak is to get ceramic/jet-hot coated headers, wrapping intake pipes are pointless.

Just sit a bag of ice on top of the motor.

I have done the same thing..I have the JWT shield and have coated it with gold thermal reflector for added heat deflecting efficiency and was thinking of wrapping my metal black short ram with the same gold tape. But I am worried now, if it will look tacky and ricey
