Would removing exhaust from test pipes back cause problems?
Hi All,
I was wondering if there would be any problems if I removed my exhaust from test pipes back for a few passes down a drag strip? I have started it up with no exhaust on before and want to know what it would sound like with it removed and under load
Someone told me today that it would cause problems because there would be no back pressure. As far a HP gains or losses I imagine I'll lose a small bit but it'd be pretty negligible.
Sorry if this has been asked before but a search just gave me a bunch of stuff about how to remove exhaust.

I know it will be loud, and I am expecting ZERO gains from it. I'm not entirely sure what you mean by your last sentence. Would you mind asking a bit differently so I get it?

lol, yeah at that point, you'll lose torque, back pressure isn't something that's used/makes a difference, it's scavaging that's needed.
If you fit a Y pipe and use a trumpet/cone attachment, you'll actually make gains, this is specifically with the MD XYZ pipe though.

For me, "completely awesome" doesn't mean obnoxious and annoyingly loud. When it comes to exhaust, volume is only a small part of it.
Do what you want, but it sounds like ish, imho.

Mine's an '03 but does this not sound completely awesome to anybody who didn't like the idea?
