Default Crawford Plenum and turbo kits

It seems like a few people who are installing turbo kits are taking off the crawford plenum and putting the factory one back on. Any insights as to why?

nah I don't know why I just know I wouldn't but any-type of Forced Induction kits on the Z unless I completely rebuild the engine.

looks better and you have more power anyway way mess with the tuning at that point by adding more mods to adversely affect it. $0.02

A plenum is not going to adversely affect a FI setup unless you tune the setup, install a plenum, then not tune it again. Then you would be more than turboed, you'd be stupid, too. Nissan could have easily included a higher flowing plenum stock. Would people put a smaller one on when they installed a turbo? I don't THINK sooooo. The point is to mod your powertrain to where you want it, then tune the ECU/engine management to a safe, reliable, powerful setup. The people selling their plenums probably do not want to do any extra tuning and are buying bolt on FI kits designed to work with the stock motor. It seems like it would be cheaper to have it tuned to the already installed plenum instead of taking a hit on a used plenum.

I cannot speak for all, but since I am one of the one's getting rid of the Crawford plenum, I can tell you why I did it.

One reason.... piping will not fit under the Crawford strut bar.
