I like where this is going but I have a feeling this will take over a year.

Car is coming home from Kooks next week, and the motor has been in progress since February. Don't be so pessimistic! I would love to have it done by the end of the summer. Have a deposit down on the motor R/R and tune...the ground work has been laid. One nice thing is that I purchased a stock HR motor at a junkyard and shipped it to the engine builder so the car wouldn't be down forever. This isn't my first project car rodeo, so I am all-too-familiar with the build process and that "you're motor will be done in 2 months" means more like 6-10 months. There have been delays, but I'm in the home stretch. I am holding the last several grand due to my engine builder hostage to add a little incentive to finish it up.

I'm not playing any "who has deeper" pockets game. I'm not comparing my car or my mods against anyone else's. Just sharing my project. It involves not-insubstantial sums of money. This is not news to anyone. How am I taking a huge risk, and by whose standard is that risk being judged? Just having fun with a project. Haters gonna hate, I suppose.

I think most are shocked at the route your taking. With the money you've the beaten path was two rights back.....I guess. Still this very exciting stuff!

That was one of the points of the whole project...forced induction has been done--beat to death--on these cars. I wanted some degree of uniqueness. 600hp on a twin turbo, built motor Z? Yawn. It's been done. I have blown-up every (both) FI cars I've owned because there's always the "a little more boost wouldn't hurt" attitude. Now, am I suggesting that I am forging new ground? Of course not, just taking the road less traveled, that's all. Like I've said before: just trying to have fun with my project and share with the community. Maybe inspire someone else. Maybe not. Maybe just come across--to some--as an a$$hole with more money than sense. But alas, you can please all the people some of the time, some of the people all the time, but not all the people all the time. However, this project was not built to please anyone but me.

Car update: Talked to Kooks again today. They were waiting on the 02 extenders. Have been pricing shipping the car back home, and the cost is almost double of what I spent getting it out there. May fly up, drive back. Anyone in the Charlotte area want to pick me up from the airport on 8/2?

Looks great man! Keep the updates coming. I like what you're doing. 400whp is a lofty goal, but achievable. It would make one bitchin' NA Z.

Thanks! This has been a work-in-process since about December of last year. Some parts had to be special ordered and now everything is finally coming together. Was informed by the engine builder that the end of July is the goal to have it on a pallet and ready to ship. I figure getting the last remaining bits lined up and an appointment at the shop for motor install/tune will put completion time around September-ish. Fingers crossed.

Next step, depending on how the car comes out, is individual throttle bodies, but that is a major, major undertaking and I don't know that I want the hassle or the expense.

I'm pretty sure revving to 10k without dry sump is going to end in failure. Nobody in their right mind would rev that high with stock oiling system.

Not trying to be a debbie downer, though. I'd like to see how your build turns out and I'm not discouraging you from pursuing it. I see you're in San Antone, so maybe I can even check it out some day.

End result looks awesome...I just wonder how exactly they did any type of research on the collector for the VQ specifically to maximize power. No doubt kooks is solid, but throwing together a one-off custom set of headers that fast? Did they dyno research anything? Change any bends or merge points? I'm sure it will sound nasty and result in some power, but I just wouldn't be shocked if that system doesn't make the power you're expecting.

Prove me wrong though! I dig the quad tip with the Nismo bumber fa show
