Default Cold Air Intakes Are Poop?

So i was a click away from ordering a dual Injen sp intake for my 08 and my friend said id be wasting my money. That they don't do anything for my car/No gains. He got me speculating so i did some research and all i found is people arguing that it does/doesn't work. Thought I'd try my luck on here. I'm all stock. This would be my first mod so far.

Longtube intakes like injen and stillen work fine. It's the short rams with no heat shield you want to stay away from.

This is how I look at it... From best to worst:

Oem airboxes with k&n filters (or something similar like stillen gen2 intakes > long tube intakes (injen, stillen gen3) > short ram intakes without enclosed air box (jwt pop charger, takeda, etc...)

No mod by itself does very much. Cars are not lego's. You don't slap one piece on and expect X hp, slap another piece on then expect Y hp. You have to plan a setup and buy the parts accordingly, then get your stuff tuned as a package.

An air intake is a necessity if you do certain other mods. Even if you don't get any hp gains, an aftermarket intake will sound better, filter better, and can be cleaned vs thrown away.

The 06+ stock airbox is the best intake for the 350z if your not FI.

If your going for sound/looks than by all means get a aftermarket filter.

Exhaust, test pipes, coilovers, rims, tune, forced induction.

And I don't know if this will fit on the HR, but unfortunately you'd have to buy 2 (http://www.gtmotorsports.com/product...cat=260&page=1). IMO I think the intake tube, 3" MAF housing, and choice of drop-in filter are the best intake mods for DE, so why not for the HR?

Iv heard this before a few times. But at the same time i see dyno runs where the after market intake in this case injen sp gave it alittle more hp. whats better and why? i understand aftermarket gives it better sound and look but im speaking performance wise

the z one tubes get rid of the drivers side resonator that the factory tube has, when i replaced my intakes with my current takeda, it removed both and made my car a little quieter
