Default Updates?

Are you still happy with your typhon mod? I'm looking to switch and I'd like to find out whether to go with this intake or the Popcharger.

Btw- Is this the part number you ordered? I couldn't find any reference to the CF type? 69-7070TS

Are you using the entire plumbing in front of the filter unit?

Thnx- Looks good!

Here is what I used on mine- made by a company called ThermoTec. Specifically made to fit CAI piping- Mfr p/n is 14500. You can get it on Summit for about $38. We hooked my car up to a device similar to Pocketlogger and saw temps drop between 15-20 degrees (in 75 degree weather).

Failsafe:

There's one more serious heat problem that you need to take care of now -- the plenum. Have you tried to touch it after the engine is warmed up?

Can you order the cf filter cover alone? I'd like to put one over my popcharger (will match the cf engine bay + protect from the rain when I get seibon hood)

Default Phatmitzu do you still like the CAI?

Do you think that the cover would protect the filter from rain if you had a hood with air vents?

I dont think so...but Im not sure tho..

Yes it will. The adge of the top carbon cover stands out about 1/2" from the box, so any water coming on top will not get into the gap. Not only that, the ram air piping is not directly connected to the box. Its got an inch gap bewteen the tip and the box, so water coming in from the ram pipe can drain out before it hits the box.

And yes...Im still loving it!

the filter cover wont work without the rest of the box that the K&N comes with...

I have one of the most vented hoods and a JWT Pop charger.. the other day it was pouring rain....

it was fine, filter actually didnt get any water on it from the freeway driving since all the air was being purhsed back and up...

I am running a special on the Polish K&N Typhoon, $240 plus shipping..

Yeah, I just wrapped it once. But they do overlap eachother tho. I dont think you need to wrap the stock plastic pipe, it will be hard cuz its uneven anyways. You can get them from Jason...cheap!

First I had a modified 300Z Apex filter, had a JWT pop charger, and now I have the K&N Typhoon.

I've had this very conversation a few times now, I personally noitced and feel and like the difference from the JWT to the K&N. Is it my imagination? Could be. Seems to kick in a few rpm later than the pop charger, but I believe it provides more kick through the end of the available RPM range.

In one of my conversations, I was told they liked the pop charger more because it sounds better. I'm not a "sound" guy, and just liked the way it worked.

I had someone drive my car the other day, and even without exhaust changes, and he liked the way it sounds.

You should be getting more, cooler air, as the typhoon is drawing air from out in front of the car Vs within the engine compartment, or down from behind the front bumper.

As you can see these guys are protecting that equipment even further with heat wrap, which is going to enhance it enven further.

Just my .02

Default I got one too.

I paid 229 for mine form hopupracing.com. No shipping charges no tax. I got the heat sheilding from summitracing.com. That ran 80 bucks. Get two big rolls of tape and 2 sheets. It takes at least 12 days for the intake to arrive because its coming from the factory to your door step.

my reveiw: Its an awsome intake. Sounds loud at 5K RPMS after 1st gear and keeps getting louder and louder. I am satisfied. I originally was going to get the popcharger; and actually I bought both and sold pop charger to my friend.

Only thing I dont like. 1 thing. It uses the hole for the toeing screw as a mounting plate for the bottom piping. So if you ever need to toe the car your going to have to remove the air intake piping. BIG SUCK!

please dont switch from the typhoon to the pop charger.

As someone stated in another thread, cold air intake is better than anything that is HOT air intake.

However, if you like more noise from your engine, then get the popcharger, it;s apparently louder.

nicely done!

Yea the towing point is a joke, you don't actually have to remove it though, just need to back out the bolt for the intake mount.

I've had my for over a year, haven't gotten towed yet so it hasn't been a problem.

What area are you from/in?

I'd like to see how your wrap job affects sound/performance. Do you have exhaust?
