Default Those with the Kinitex plenum

I installed my plenum last night and things went fine. My idle is fine and she drives fine. I do have a question though. Do any of you have a howl while decelerating or between shifts? It's not loud and sounds like it's inside the plenum unlike a air leak which would whistle usually. Is this common or am I misdiagnosing a air leak? Other than that I have no complaints. Thanks for your help.

That's the growl inherent to a free flowing plenum. Most people like it except for the people who should have bought an Infinity.

*********I forgot to look when installing, but does anyone know if the coolant fittings are actually connected through the plenum attachment? I'm just worried about the importance of it during the winter, and if there is anything downstream of it that will be affected. Thanks***********

You mean inherent to a plastic plenum. The Crawford has a sound, but it is much quieter.

At first, I thought the plenum was too loud, but it did grow on my with time. When I stuck my stock one back on, it was if I had lost something. Oh well.

if I understand your question, the coolant block is connected to the plenum but not through the plenum. The lines are separate to the plenum, they are there to warm the air on start up i believe but no, they in no way go "into" the plenum...

I agree the growl is due to the plastic and not the free flowing plenum.

I liked it at first but sometimes I feel it drowns the exhaust note even with test pipes on alot of noise coming from the front.

I'll keep it on until I go TT

There is a black block that attaches to the rear of the plenum. It has two fittings for the lines. Is there actually a path for the coolant to circulate through the block?

I was worried about the same thing. I was under the impression that on the OEM plenum, the coolant flowed near the throttle body to prevent icing during winter. With the Kinetix unit, the bolt-on block flows coolant, but IMO not close enough to the throttle body to make any difference - especially with the plastic's inherit low temperature absorption properties. Should it ever be an issue though, it's only 45minutes to swap out anyway.

I can't decide if I'm getting used to the growl or it's actually become quieter. I swear when I reinstalled it for the second time, it was quieter, and after the high flow cats were installed, it became quieter yet. Now it's quite livable and in most cases I really like the growl. I find I can gear up to drop the RPM below 2K and it's almost silent. Actual performance gains are well worth it IMO.

That is the beauty of living in South Florida no winter freezing to worry about.
