Default Injen CAI with different Air Filter

Currently I have an Injen CAI, I want to change the Injen Air Filter and put Blitz or Apexi air filter on that set up. Has any1 done something like that or did any1 change any other air filter to the Injen CAI? I really want an air filter that has an opening on the top.

In advance thanx for any helpfull info.

i haven't done it, but it should fit right in, as long as the diameter of the filter's end is the same as the CAI. Just call and make sure before you buy it.

If I recall thiers a member that modifed his Injen to draw from just below the license plate (added extra tubing) and has a JWT popcharger filter on it. Setup posted some great MAF air temp readings. I'm sure the JWT filter was not a easy thing to make fit.

In fact I ran a search, here it is.

if you're looking to replace the filter for looks, then go ahead. if you're trying to get more power, you may want to think twice. the filters with the open tops actually flow less than ones with solid tops. the problem is that the air flowing into the top actually disturbs the air flow coming in from the side (and vice versa), so your net air flow is less.

if you add more ducting to try to draw the air from a different location, be advised that the longer the ducting, the more restiction you will have. this may negate any increase you may get from pulling in cooler air because there is more restriction with the extra ducting.

the intake on my z uses a straightforward approach. it uses a short tube, but isolates the filter from the engine heat with a shield.
