Hmm? That's strange. I have a 2003 & I don't have any grinding. As benjamnip mentioned, it may just be the way you're throwing your shift &/or timing with your clutch. Try shifting differently next time & see what happens. If that doesn't work, I'd get it checked by the dealer now rather then wait since it's still under warranty.

it's not my timing with the clutch i always press the clutch all the way down and then go to 5th. since most of the time i go to 5th gear grinds, i do it slow press the clutch in and leave it in for like a second then i shift it to 5th and it still grinds a little bit.

Hmm? Just saw that you also posted that you have camber issues as well. If I were you, I'd just bring it to the dealer to check it out under your warranty.

my 5th grinds also, not audibly though, just feel it through the shifter. Its normal, every manual ive ever drove does the same thing...but it could also be my timing.

Mine grinds second! Just picked it up from dealer looking it over today. The Tech
said that the tranny needs to be replaced but he is just waiting on the OK from Nissan Tech Line??? But grinding is Not Normal whatsoever. Mine is also an 04 and many other people on here as well have had this prob and tranny replaced under warranty!

I would think that grinding gears is pretty audible, at least the 3 manual cars I have driven, it's quite obvious when you grind a gear.

I think feeling that the gears grind on the shifter w/o audible noise has to do more with the shifting fork movement than gears grinding. Then again, sometimes I do feel my tranny feels a bit strange shifting into 2nd and 5th, but no audible noise of grinding.

At least I feel at ease with the extended warranty..........

i had my tranny replaced about 500 miles ago. i brought it in cause 3rd would gring on up shift or downshift at any rpm over 4000. but the new one they put in almost would not go into 5th when i got it back. still hard to get in now still. thought it would loosen up but it hasn't much. it is not a grinding issue but seems like a misalignment problem and will hopefully wear itself a smooth path as i put an ati fi on it right when i got the car back, so i am on my own now.
why can't we go back to noisy straight cut gears and bang and grind as much as we want!!!

Take it to Nissan, tell them you have the synchro problem with your tranny when you shift to 5th. You want it replaced. End of story. Nissan knows about it, and they will fix it under warranty. Same happened to me with my 03 Touring.
