my Z is DeTeRioRaTiNG, HELP
hey everybody, i think i have a problem. about a month and a half ago i mis-shifted (2-3-2) then over-revved. after that incident, my car would make a loud whining noise at speeds above 80mph, regardless of the throttle position. I took the car to the dealer the next day and i had a tech take a ride w/me. he heard the noise, but he wasn't sure where it was coming from. back at the dealership, i was told to call nissan1 to see what i should do. they need one of their techs to drive my car, but the problem is they aren't allowed to go 80mph in it. i dont see why i have to go through all that when the 1st tech confirmed the noise.
now, last night i was driving home, going about 70-75. ( i try not to go above 80 because the whining noise is so damn loud and irritating) then all of a sudden my car starts to bogg out as if my clutch wasn't gripping or the rev limiter some how went hay-wire (the needle on the tach was jumping up and down). so, i hit the clutch, and by this time my car slowed down to about 45-50mph. i put it into 4th and give it a little gas, and my car still boggs out when given gas. once again, i hit the clutch, now going about 25mph and i exit the freeway. at the exit i manage to pull over and shut the car down. i then started it up again after a few min. and drive the streets. i go through 1st.....2nd....3rd....and 4th....my car seems fine, driving normally. so, i hop back on the freeway and floor it through all gears til i hit 80mph. my car car was running fine, but i was still worried.
i took the car into performance nissan this morning. they said they ran a diagnostic and also took the car for a test drive. the mechanic said nothing is wrong and that the diagnostics show nothing. i know that the person driving the car wasn't going 80mph, so he never heard the whining noise. also, how can i avoid my car bogging down to a stop while im on the freeway if the dealer doens't see anything wrong with it? i know that the next time this problem happens, it'll be gone when i get back to the dealership. can anybody help???

this is my experience w/ perf nissan. you have to sit in the car w/ them when they test drive it to show them what ur talking about, not saying its strictly "perf nissan" but w/ all other dealerships, they'll always say nothing is wrong w/ ur car. ive been trying to make them take my oil consumption problem more seriously and im due for 1k test this sat. but they keep saying my oil level is normal when i know for a fact that its not, im 900mile into my previous oil change and it has already dropped near 1/2 via dipstick reading, and they can tell u this because ur not in the shop area when they do these tests. but before when they authorized the replacement of my tranny, i was in the car and i had to show them what i was talking about. and after, i complained about the same situation w/ my replacement tranny and they said nothing was wrong w/ it, but that time i wasnt in the car w/ them, but i can swear by my word that it had the same symptoms as my first. so long story short, doesnt matter how reputable a dealership is, because they're still a dealership and they're in business for money. i heard torrance nissan is pretty kool too, u might want to try there after no luck w/ perf nissan. hope this helps

well juz10case, when i got home from work today i decided to check if they actually put the tamper-tape on the oil filter and drain bolt like they said they did...and what do i see? no tape at all. after i made it clear i wanted to start an oil comsumption test. b@stards~ i suggest you try another dealership's service dept. i lost my confidience and faith w/ performance nissan. i kno its hard to believe someone saying something bad about perf, after all they still are a great dealership in my IMO. but they lied to me once too many times. just my 2 cents. good luck
