Default unknown rattling. need your opinions plz.

over time, i was hearing this very little rattling coming from passenger side rear-side panel area. im not sure exactly where it is, but it just got very annoying. it sounds like some metal part came loose, and hitting some metal frame in that area. it rattles off of every little vibration.

i opened up the rear-side panel to see if there is anything, but no luck. nothing underneath the glove compartment or the spare tire area either.

i just wanted to confirm if this was a known issue before i take apart all the panels back there. you know it is a ***** to open up everything...

i know im not being clear, but i figured someone would know about this if something like this ever happened to someone.. so.. anyone?

anything in there that gets loose easy or something?

thanks.

First, try to search this forum. I'm sure you will get alot of answers (or questions)
Second, I had the same thing. It turned out to be something on the underside of the passenger seat.
Good luck

Are you sure it's not the seat belt tongue rattling against the B pillar when there is no passenger ? There is a clip to lock in in place to prevent rattling.

I have the same rattling noise it started after I had my stillen exhaust installed (or at least thats when I noticed it). With my windows down I can hear it, it happens at low RPMs and sounds like a thin piece of metal vibrating against another piece of metal on the passenger side rear, mine is coming from outside the car because when I drive next to a wall it echoes off the wall. I cant figure out whats doing it either. So far my only fix is to turn up the volume on my crappy stock stereo.

weirdest thing...

the rattling sound disappeared for a week. comepletely. and then it is comming back. not loud like before, but i can hear it if i pay attention.

i don't know why the sound disappeared for a while, since i didn't do anything to it. (well, i did took all the panels apart but didn't find anything. that didn't help at all)

imma take it to the dealer if the sound gets heavier.

In my case, what you describe turned out to be the passenger side visor of all things.

It's a rear wheel bearing. I have the same thing and complained about it when I was in for service. I was told it's a bearing & they have ordered the part. There is a TSB on it.

I thought it was my exhaust.

I have a odd problem.

Sometimes, when starting from a stop the car makes a faint "clunk" noise from the rear and the car seems to pop free and starts to move. Its odd, THis used to happen on my old car when the drum brakes were getting old, they would stick untill the car was in motion. But we dont have drum, and the e-brake isn't applied.

Had it. It didn't start until after I had the window grease problem fixed. I took it back to the dealer for adjustment.

to make the long story short.....the dealer had to shim the left rear upper strut bracket in order to stop the metal to metal rattle. It took them a whole month to locate the problem....first they replace the rear hatch strut.... then the rear suspension strut and the rattle was still there. They finally figured out there was excessive play between the stut and the rear wheel well.

hmm. im wondering if it could be the same case as mine. the noise was gone for a while, but i think it is starting to come back. i can hear it sometimes.

what i don't get is, why does it rattle "sometimes"??
