Just a couple of days ago, I tried to open the hatch using the release above the rear license plate area. I did the same thing as usual by pressing the button, but for some reason, it didn't open. I tried about 10 times without any success. I then used the remote to open it, and it worked fine. Then I tried again by using the release button above the license plate area, and it finally worked after pushing it 4-5 times.

It seems to be working fine now, but I don't know if it will happen again. Any ideas on what is wrong? Is this a known issue?

 

Was your Z locked when you tried opening the hatch? If your car is locked so is the hatch, BUT you can use your remote to open it.

 

No, the car was not locked. In fact, I opened the hatch up just a few minutes earlier since I was drying around that area, and I was trying to reopen it since I wanted to vacuum in the hatch area.
