Default Temp solution for nasty hood scratch?

I got a nasty scratch on my hood one afternoon in July, down to the metal even. I've gotten quotes on getting it fixed, which includes having my whole hood repainted. I have no problem doing this, I just haven't been able to give up my daily driver for 3 days yet. So, now that winter is fast approaching I'm getting worried it may begin to rust and I def don't want that to happen. Is there anything I can do to patch it up properly before taking it in for the real repair? Don't really care about matching the paint etc, because it is just temporary. Am I really at a lot of risk of letting the rust begin? I haven't noticed any difference in the scratch at all over the past few months.

DB duct tape?

Try some touch up paint, it will protect from the elements if nothing else.

Just ordered some touch up paint. I'll give that a try until I can part with my daily for a few days.

+1. The aluminum won't rust. The only thing that could happen is that it could start to oxidize, but that would require another metal to act as a reducer <insert complex chemistry explaination here>. I wouldn't worry about the rusting.
