Default My First Problem, Please Help!

I've had my '04 350 for about 9 months now. I bought it with 9k miles on it, now it's nearly at 30k.... Anyways, today I was going through a stoplight and the car just stalled! I tried turning the ignition a few times, and nothing happened... SO I turned the car cxompletely off, then it started up right away, but now I have the service engine soon light on! The nearest dealership is about 3 hours away, is it safe to take it there?? Or is this an easy problem to fix that I could do myself?

i think you should check your cars history, the mileage might have been put back service engine could also be tellin you to do a tune-up or something. i dont think the light is going to be a problem i had a toyota sienna with the engine light on for like 10k take it around the block if you notice anything wrong with the car then tow it diealership.

Yeah, if you don't experience anything wierd, it might just be a warning light for you to go ahead and schedule service.

I would suggest that you stop by Auto Zone, etc. and get them to pull the code that tripped the CEL. Once you have that, come back here and we may be able to get you more info. Outside of that, do a search on resetting the ECU and then see if the light happens again. It is possible that it is an anomaly that may never happen again. Either way, I would definitely find out what the code was just to be safe...

Call you dealer and have them check to see if your Z is one of those recalled because of the crank angle sensor problem.

Default My first Problem "Service Engine Soon Light"

Hey guys, I had the same problem... I had noticed my "Service Engine Soon" light come on.. .and when i reached a stop light, the car stalled... and when I quickly started it up cuz cars were behind me... the throttle was not responding very well... i had to floor it just to roll enough to pull over.... so i shut the car off completely.. and i started it up again, and it was back to normal... but the light is still on... my car has about 34,000 miles on it... i do have the injen cold air intake and it rained earlier in the day... but i've driven in the rain before no problem... could that be it?

and if i do take it to the dealer, I should change everything back up to stock again... like the intake right?

thanks for your help guys

Exclamation Check Engine Light Illuminates

My first problem too. 2005 Z with 20K sputtered and shut down while cruising at 60MPH last night. Z wouldn't immediately restart. When it finally started, "CHeck Engine" light was on. Proceeded about 1 mile when the same thing happened again. Was most concerned about how much body damage I would sustain with a tow truck hauling the Z up on a flat bed for delivery to Nissan.

After 3rd restart, limped home (about 10 miles) with "SLIP" "VDC" and "Check Engine" lights on. Will return to Nissan this morning.

I hope the problem isn't associated with the Chrome Nut and Bolt Kit I installed yesterday from COURTESY PARTS. I lightly coated the Plenum bolts with a medium tread locking compound as instructed and torqued the Plenum bolts at 6.1 inch pounds IAW with the service manual I purchased from NISSAN.
