Keeping it under 4K for 1200 anxious miles
How many Z owners acutally kept it under 4k RPMs for the first 1200 miles?
I have 350 miles on my Silverstone Performance and cannot hardly resist punching it everytime I get the green at a traffic light. I have kept it under 4k for the most part maybe hitting 5k now and then and once or twice got up to 6k.
Am I pushing it or does this sound like I'll be ok driving like this for the next 850 anxious miles?

I think that as long as one is not ripping and ramming the initial 1200 miles, then pushing it a little isn't going to hurt anything.
Then you might ask, "Why then, did I post the question in the first place."
It's because I am curious how others think.
Happy Z Days!

Friday night:
Picked up Silver Enthusiast 6sp, headed out of town. Did not go over 4000 rpm, but did find 100. I'm going to do the 1200 thing although i do get it above 4K every now and then.
when asked how i like the car i tell them it is what i expected but then complain, the worst part is keeping it under 4k, but my time will come - 1201.
Best part - $29K

I kept it under 4000 for the breakin. Ok, maybe it saw a few brief moments over but not much. What you want to avoid is sustained high speed & load. A brief run up in a low gear is not going to hurt anything.
Engines are built to closer tolerances with better materials than they used to be. The need for breakin is greatly reduced. Look how short this breakin period is compared to what they used to be. Manufactures of really high quality ($$) heavy duty truck engines like Mack take every one of their engines to full power at the end of the assembly line. No breakin needed.
