CEL for the first time... coincidence?
Last night I completed mods to my center gauge cluster. Of course, to get to it, it is like installing a new headunit (PITA). During testing, I did have to flip the ignition to "ON" or start the car a few times without the white box behind the A/C controls connected. I know this would cause a loss of data signal to the main cluster. Anyhow, I got everything put back together and all was well.
So I'm off to work this morning and the CEL lights up. My car seems to be running fine, and it isn't in limp mode either.
I'll try to fetch the code later since I'm at work. I just wonder what might have caused it since it's the first time I've seen the CEL light up.

Probably not a coincidence. Basic instruction before doing any work is to disconnect the negative terminal of the battery. This is to prevent triggering a CEL if your repair requires disconnecting any of the sensors and some other elec. components.
There is a CEL clearance procedure that I've seen on one of the Z web sites whereby you can clear the CEL w/o a trip to the dealer.

Yeah, you need to do the ECU reset. It's a pretty common problem when people are replacing the headunit, if you don't disconnect the battery and do remove some connector from one of the modules, you will get the CEL.
Yea, thx for the advice. It went away after a few days of driving. :-)
