What exactly is this factory fix from Nissan? When my car was in the dealer last week, supposedly a Nissan engineer was present and told the service manager that Nissan was aware of the problem, but did not have an official fix for it. I even had this thread printed out, and they refused to do the DIY fix. I'm not too certain they're telling me the whole truth though...

This really disturbs me! What the hell is going on here? I was told by my dealer that this is a known problem and my car sat in their shop for 3 days waiting for the "factory fix kit". They installed this mysterious kit while managing to mess up the wiring harness under the seat. At least the seat is now stable but I'm afraid if I move the seat the wires will pull loose and cause my air bags to deploy. Are we having fun yet?

I brought my Z in two weeks ago for an oil change and I had the dealership check the seat - complaining that it rocked, especially when turning left. They checked out the seat and said that it would take a week for the parts to come in.

To make a long story short, it seems to be fixed! Thus far, it's solid as a rock.

Part Number: 87450-CD000
Description: ADJUSTER ASSY-F

Is there anyone out there that can look up the details on the part to see if it is similar to the DIY fix posted here? I picked it up after normal service hours and did not get a chance to ask.

Hmmm, I had this exact part put in my car a week ago. I'm not sure if it fixed the shifting problem, but my seat is still loose. I can grab the front of the driver's seat and shake it up and down. (see my previous post in this thread).

So no I'm confused:

1) Is this the real part for the fix ?

2) Is my seat being loose normal or maybe a different problem ?

The front of my seat also wobbles around. I noticed the bar moving, but didn't do anything since I was hoping to get a brand new seat from the dealer when I reached 35,999 miles. After hearing about both the Nissan "fix" and the home "fix", I think I'll try out the home fix first.

Execllent thread zPilott, and everyone else, too.

If you want to talk about nose paint chipping let me tell you about the VW JETTA GLX that I traded for my 350Z. The paint on my (chrome) 350Z is an order of magnetude better (so far) than the cheesy (green) paint on my VW. The paint on the JETTA was soft and prone to chipping and chemical erosion from tree and bird droppings. No where as bad on the "silver bullet'!!!:

I had this done a few weeks ago:

Part Number: 87450-CD000
Description: ADJUSTER ASSY-F

It didn't seem to do much good since the front of my seat is still really loose. I also still have a click on harder turns. So, I'm about to try the fix that started this thread but I see reference to a lot of numbers identifying parts (20, 24, 19, etc.). Is there a picture missing or do I need to get a shop manual ?

If you take a look at the black and white image in the original post, you should find the numbers I was referring to.

Just checked my invoice and the dealer installed part # 87450-CD000 ADJUSTER A.... the same part that Fuzzwart reported his dealer installed for the "clicking seat noise". I think my seat might be starting to move and click again.

Do any of you guys have fraying seams on your cloth seats yet?

When I had the Z in for the 3750 mile service I told the dealer that my driver’s seat was moving and shifting again. Here’s what is on my invoice… “CONTACTED NISSAN .. NO REPAIRS AUTHORIZED AT THIS TIME . NISSAN IS AWARE OF CONCERN AND FIX IN THE WORKS”

my seat moves when turning (move side to side) and it bothers me alot! so I decided to take the seat out and drill a small hole on the rod that actually moves the seat up and down, and put a cotton pin in it. Now it's perfect! Thanks!

Anyone know if a fix is availabe yet? I would do the fix listed above, but I'd rather have a Nissan fix instead of breaking something myself.

My dealer gave me the same quote, and said that he would contact me when the definitive fix is in. In the meantime.......

My car got a new tranny a week and a half ago, and as of then, still no official fix for the seat.

Well I can say that the 04's still have the damn seat click issue. My build date is July 03 and after 600 miles my seat now clicks...

Just curious if you ever got your seat fixed. I got a 2004 Track built October and my seat does shift on some turns. I am not sure if there is an audible click but I feel it moving. I will probably take it in as well eventually.
