Default clutch problem

I have had a mechanic change out the clutch master cylinder, slave cylinder, and put on a reinforced clutch line and he cant seem to bleed all the air out. He said that he will push in the clutch but after about 10 seconds the wheels start to turn with the pedal still pushed in.( car is on a lift) Does anyone have any suggestions? This is getting rediculious!!!

It's drag, I guarantee all clutches will do that, after 10 seconds. Basically you have two plates spinning right next to each other, there can be eitherslight contact, or just air drag between them, and after 10 secs, it overcomes the drag of the gears, rearend, wheel bearings, etc and starts to turn. There's nothing wrong w/ your clutch. I'm willing to bet that if, while he was doing this, you touched a back tire, they'd both instantly stop, which means it's just SLIGHT drag, don't worry about it.

I would think he would know that. Which leads me believe there is more to it. The guys knows his ****. He use to be a tech for a few manufatuers such as nissan, mitsu, and ford. And now he opened his own shop. Well thanks guys if you come up with anything else I appreciate it. Thanks

It was becoming very difficult to get into gear. So I thought that maybe I boiled my fluid. So I bought a reinforced line from Mossy and installed it. Bled the clutch but still had the same problem. So I took to this guy. He checked it out and said I had fluid in the boot of the slave cylinder, so bought a new slave cylinder. Well after he installed that he said that he thinks the master was shot also so I bought a new master cylinder. And now he is saying there is a leak some where because he cant seem to get all the air out. The guy is not taking for a ride because he is allowing me to buy my own parts so he has nothing to gain by lying. It has been 3 weeks with ordering the parts and waiting on them and installing them, I just am tired of not having my car and relying on other people for transportation.

Yes but I believe he feels that the pedal seems to feel lighter after a few minutes. And if he pumps it a few times it feels firmer. So I don't know I am just at a loss of words and ideas!!

Sounds like you need to take it to a different tech. I know you don't want to hurt the guy but business is business and you have been without your car for 3 weeks.(which is crazy) I would pull the car and take it to someone else. just my .02

Well I went their today and actually talked to him and he cant seem to figure out where the hydraulic system is losing pressure. There is a dampener or "orfice" ( part # 30650cd000) that is in the wheel well that is in between the master and slave cylinder. He was taking that off when I was leaving to clean it out. That was around 3 p.m. And it is now close to 8 so I am guessing that was not the problem. Other wise I would of received a call.

I am considering it but I am worried about taking it to nissan and than their tech tells me that I need a new slave cylinder or master cylinder when I just bought those a week ago. And than I am sure they will insist that is what it is and than I am now paying for the parts and labor twice, to end up where I am at now.

you could just take it to the dealer and tell them you want the clutch bled and that is what they will do. If there is a bad part and they run into the same problem as the other guy I'm sure they will tell you what part is preventing the system from bleeding completely and give you a price to fix it. I would not worry about your new parts they should all carry some kind of warranty. As for payment to the guy who can't fix your car. You said you bought the parts and took them to him so all you should pay is labor to install the parts and none for the bleed. I would try to work some reduced rate to make up for the time that he has been working on it and can't fix it. trust me he has no idea what he is doing and is throwing parts at it praying that one will fix it. get your car and RUN!

Has anyone ever had a problem with the release fork? I am wondering if there is some way I may have bent it and that is the reason for the light pedal feel and it is hard to get into gear?

It was difficult to put it into gear especially at a stop. Well the problem has been fixed for about a week now. What the tech ended up doing was shimming the pivot point of the release fork. Basically in lame men terms he ended up using additional washers on the pivot point bolt to get more throw and allowing the clutch to release properly. It shifts great now!!
