Default Popping The Trunk From Inside The Car ?

I brought my new Z home just a few days ago, and can not figure out how to open the rear hatch when I am inside the car with the motor running. The key fob hatch opener does not seem to work when the car is running, and I certainly don't want to mess with that pull-string on the strut tower. So what gives? Does anybody know how to open the trunk?

No other way if the FOB doesn't work while in the ignition.

but it does, the FOB has no clue that the key is in the ignition. and the trunk will pop if the car is running. are you sure your holding it for a second or 2? its a delayed switch.

Default Emergency Release

there is also an emergency release

it is a small tab under the cross brace.

pull the tab -- lid opens

I don't know if you can reach it from drivers seat -- I have to stretch to get to it

Back when I was still reading the owners' manual I seem to recall that the back will not open with the remote if the key is in the ignition. I tried it today and it is true with my car.

I think that you have two choices turn off the car, take the key out and use the remote or get out of the car and open the back the old fashion way, from the outside.

There's a rubber rectangle above the rear license plate (flush with the top of area in which the the plate is mounted) that you can press to open the rear hatch. It only works if you have one or more doors unlocked.

Of course, you'll have to get out of the car...unless you have very long arms!
