Default When to switch to Mobil1?

I'm almost done with my breakin miles, and want to get an oil change when I'm finished with them. Should I allow the dealer to put in whatever they normally do for this change and wait a few more miles before I go to Mobil1?

There are all variety of opinions on this topic, but personally I'm waiting at until my second or third oil change before going to synthetic.

You'll get a bunch of different answers mostly based on personal preference. There is no wrong answer, the engine will breakin a little faster on dino oil, it will also wear out faster on dino oil. It will breakin OK on synthetic, Porsche, Corvette, etc are factory fill with synthetic. I switched at 3000 miles. Breakin on todays engines is not the traumatic process it used to be. Microfinished crank journals and plateau honed cylinders are machined to near perfection. There is not that much metal removal going on inside a new engine anymore.

I agree. I just changed to a synthetic blend at 1300 miles and plan to run that to 3000 and then go full synthetic. In the past, however, I have made the switch to full syn. anywhere from 1000 miles to 2500 miles and never had any issues.
