Frozen windows
Kinda a rain/sleet/snow yesterday. Car sat in driveway all day. Drove home (35 miles) last night in 15 degree temp. Get to first tollbooth, looking forward to the porpoise effect on the other side (sarcasm) and the window won't roll down. Nor would the passenger side. Opened door and tossed in toll. Cabin heated for 45 minutes before one would uncrack. Any comments?
A quick shot of Prestone windshield deicer (plastic spray bottle) would solve that problem, if you sprayed just before departing. Just make sure not to overspray on the paint- that stuff is hell on wax!!!
Plus, I think you'll find the spray bottle would fit right behind the driver's seat.

Sounds normal to me. You can unstick the windows by heating the car (as your did) and also my assisting the window with your hand or gently tapping the window. But heating is best.
It is a common misconception that you can damage your window by opening or closing the door if the window is stuck (and dowsn't roll down those 10mm). This has been proven to be false, despite what is printed in the manual. Of course, should you have to do this, it should be done slowly and carefully (don't just slam the door).

Last week my driver side window was stuck. I had no problems opening the door, although there was some pinching when the window cleared the frame. I drove to work and had the heat on pretty high but the window still wouldn't go down. It wasn't until after work and my Z sitting in the sun all day did the window finally go down.
Blasting the heat will work if you leave the car sitting still for a while (which is not good for the engine), as you are depending on conductive heat transfer to move through the window from inside to outside to melt the ice. Once you start moving, the wind will continuously move cold air along the outside of the glass and sustain the cold temperature. The only other alternative is to melt the ice chemically- hence my recommendation of the deicer.
(IMHO- I have been battling this issue for 35 years in the north)

(So, it's an old thread...)
Anybody in the intervening years come up with some solution to this? No other car I've ever owned had windows that froze shut. My '88 Supra has windows without an upper frame and they never freeze. My old '74 SAAB, also without upper frame never froze either. Both certainly have been rained on and froze, but the windows always work. It looks like a design flaw to me. The window is frozen up with internal water; there's no visible ice. On my other cars, once I scrape off the surface ice, the windows always work. The windows in the Z stores up some water, which I can see even in the summer.
I personally find this unacceptable, and I thought I'd ask here before talking to the dealer.
I had the "grease streak" TSB performed several months ago which certainly didn't help the freezing issue.
