Default Does my Z have a problem?

First, when I start my Z in the morning I usually hear a "kkkkkkk" kind of a sound from somewhere in the engine, seems like from the passenger side. I only hear it when I start my Z after I haven't driven it for about 10 hours or so. It sounds like some sort of grinding sound. Also I usually hear the same sound in the morning when I shift from Park to Reverse to back up out of my garage. Lastly, I don't know if this is normal, but when I drive with the 5 speed manual shift, it doesn't feel right when I shift from gears 1->2->3->4, its not smooth at all unless I shift right at about 3800-4000 rpms. Is this normal? I dont know, what do you guys think? Oh yeah and I have an A/T transmission in a 2005 350z roadster with about 12000 miles. Thanks in advance
