Default 15k mile service - dealership

Does anyone actually bring their Z in for the 7.5k, 15k, etc service at the dealership? I was in for an oil change a while back and the guy was trying to sell me a 7.5k mile check up. When i came in for my next oil change another guy asked again the same thing, asked why i declined last time. And i noticed they wrote on the service slip, "owner declined 7500mi check". Of course i declined again at my last oil change and told him the bs line that i'm waiting until 15k miles.

I am sure that there are members with money enough for every dealer service available. Just leave your car at Nissan and charge it.

Others like myself are on a budget. I cannot see paying someone $80/hour to check my brakes.

My father works at a Nissan dealer in NY and told me that those 7K, 15K & 30K check ups are not required. Change your oil and check your belts, that's all you need to do.....save your money!

i think they wrote such comment on the slip so they don't get blame for it when problem occurs. For me, I only go to dealership when I buy a new car; that's only time they are friendly.

The last time I had my brakes checked I asked the service tech about bringing the car in for each mileage service and he said they can't hold this against you as long as you keep your receipts if you get the oil changed somewhere else. You just need proof that these services have been done in case they try to void your warranty for not bringing it to the dealer.

I go to a local shop I've been using for 18 years for all minor service including all oil changes and make a record of the change. Then for tire changes (one so far) and 30,000 mile service I go to the Nissan dealer.

You don't have to have maintenance done by dealer; you just have to have it done.

All i've done for my Z is just regular oil changes @ the dealership. I'm still wondering if i'm going go there for my "check-up". I just passed the 15k mile mark.

Unless you're having issues the only thing you need to do is change the oil and air filter (when Maybe 1-2 times) up to 60k. Every 60k you need to change the trans fluid and maybe the in-cabin filter, depending on where you drive you may need to change the filter more; dirt/dusty roads will clog it up faster. New plugs every 100k. Mostly pay attention to fluids, tire wear, noises and you should be fine. If you want to spend the extra $$$, have at it but it isn't needed imo.

not just no, He!! no... Can't see paying for someone to look at things I can look at myself. Save money on the checkups and get yourself a set of factory shop manuals. They will serve you much better in the long run...

Just wondering does our Z have in-cabin filter from OEM?

Thanks

Thanks for the advice guys! I'll save the $200 they wanted to charge me and put it towards beer or something equally satisfying.

I guess not. I was just going by the maintenance interval which said "Replace in-cabin microfilter 2" and didn't look below to see that the 350z it's listed as optional. So I doubt we have one.

You'll be fine, just wait until 30k miles and do the 30k service.

Since 30k service usually includes a full inspection, you should be OK with warranty since they will say everything looks good.

anyone else get a "free 100 point check-up" offer? just got it for this month, figured i would take it in then, find out what needs to be done, and take it to a better shop for far less $$ (for the things i can't do myself). plus, i need to get my passenger window motor replaced (which happened to go out 2 mos after warrenty, even though i took it in twice under warrenty. it also went out on a saturday when the service guys were not there. hope they grandfather it!)
