Default New problems with my Z!!!

OK, for the past week I have noticed that when I take off hard from a stop that my brake light comes on as if I had pulled up the handbrake. It has now also started to do it under moderate braking as well. Yesterday I launch real hard from a stop, I got no wheel spin, but the brake light came on, and the "SLIP" light came on and neither would turn back off!! I had the VDC off as well, but pressing the button again would not turn it off. Finally, turning the car off, then back on again, reset it. My feeling before was that it was just a defective handbrake sensor, but now??

Next is my window lowering when you open the door. My driver's side no longer lowers properly. It starts to drop down that 1/2", but it just gets stuck. If you push down on it slightly, it lowers, and when you close it, it goes back up. So the window itself is just getting stuck.

Last is the damn tranny again. It's not exactly grinding when its cold, but it's EXTREMELY notchy. The only way I can describe it is that it's the maximum ammount of notchiness you could have before actually calling it a grind. Happens on the 1-2 and 2-3 upshifts when cold. If I am gonna have to get another new tranny, I am gonna put in a lightweight flyweel and heavier duty clutch at the same time to save on some labor.

Sounds like an error code, as opposed to a defective handbrake sensor

The brake light does not stay on, it only comes on during the hard accel/decelleration

Check your brake fluid. It could on acceleration slosh to the rear of the reservoir and make the light flash intermittently.

I feel real dumb because that's exactly what it was. I checked the reservoir and it was halfway between Min and Max so it should be ok, but I just filled it to Max and the problem went away. Thanks guys.

Don't feel you're alone, raceboy. I just found out the same thing two weeks ago. I've had my NX for 11 years and never had the problem. I bled the brakes, ran out of fluid and forgot to top it off at a later date. When the light came on a day later and stayed on I thought it was the handbrake sensor. I'm a dummy!

I thought when the brake fluid declines you do not refill it, but change the pads.

At least I thought this was the proper solution to this issue, from the articles I have read on the subject.

Now if you install new pads, there will be to much fluid in the system and it will require bleeding.

Not that bleeding the system is a bad idea, just saying.

Am I wrong?
