Default Some Problems..

1)My 04' 350Z is kinda bouncy or rather bumpy...lm on stock rims/tyres/shocks. Will changing to a low profile tyres help? or its the shocks prob?

2)I noticed the rpm can be changed from 2000 to ard 7000 on the middle console.. wad difference does it make anyway?

Would appreciate if anyone can enlighten me. Tks.

1) New suspension and lower profile tires will tighten up the ride
2) That is your shift light setting. Owners manual (if you have it) explains it in better detail.

In general, no. The lower profile the tire, the stiffer the sidewall will be to support the weight of the car. Best to try a tire of the same size in a different brand, check tirerack.com for comfort ratings on different tire choices. That part of the trip computer sets the shift light. Its a small blinking light below the tach and will come on 500rpm before your set rpm to remind you to shift.

The Z is a sports car so deal with the hard ride!

Tks for the replies.
To resolve the bouncy ride, l suppose changing to low profile tyres dun help huh.

So for the RPM adjustment, its just to tell u to change ur gears? does it affect performance?

If you set it for 7500 the light at lower center of the tach will start flashing at 7000rpm to warn you it's time to shift. At 7500rpm the light will remain constant. No effect on performance other than allowing you to shift quickly at peak rpm.

In response to the tire issue:

I wanted a stiffer sidewall, better handling tire, without getting new wheels or realigning anything.

I did some math and found out you can use a wider tire with a shorter sidewall and stay within 1/4" of factory.

I use 245/45/R17 (F) 255/45/R17 (R) and (I'm not sure about other forms of driving, since I drift but...) my car has a slightly smoother ride than stock, but with much more progressive handling. It no longer has any of the stock snap under/oversteer and making transitions is much easier. everything improved, even tire life/wear is longer. You might give that a try. I have been using Khumo Escta SPT if you want to try them. they're about $110 shipped/tire from tirerack.com
