I have an 03 roadster and all of a sudden I can't shift into reverse at all. I have a short shifter, but I can't imagine why that would make a difference. I tried moving my shift plate around, but no position allows me to get it into reverse. In fact the only way I can get it into reverse is by completely removing the shift plate. Is my tranny trashed? Is there some other problem I am missing. I tried to do a search, but no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 

Sounds like you may have made some unintentional adjustments in your shift linkage by putting in the short shifter. I've seen this happen in other cars but not the Z.
