Rhino Ramps Break?
hi there,
i am reading here Rhino Ramps are pretty good. so i bought a pair on amazon and i asked a friend of mine about them and he said dont use them. he's seen pics on the net of them breaking over time since the plastic becomes more brittle. Has anyone else heard of this? can anyone recommend any other ramps that would fit under a stock height Z?
Thanks guys

I've had my Rhino Ramps for about ten years. No issues.
I suppose that if you left them outside in direct sun for a decade or so the plastic could become compromised and be more prone to fatigue. Maybe.

Had mine for about 4-5 years and they are strong, strong, strong. Can't imagine them ever breaking unless you abused them as said above. I always feel much safer working under the car with these than with jackstands. Always feel like jackstands could tip when I'm wrenching on the car hard.
Here was a post about there rhino ramps breaking with pics

WTF!
That is not what I have and definitely looks like a defect. The design he showed was very different from mine. The internal supports on his all have an arched cutout and look thinner. The supports for mine are solid and go all the way to the ground. Very heavy duty construction. They must have either come out with a cheaper line or went to China with their production.

I used the black Rhino Ramps 2 years ago (brand new) for my first oil change on the Z, and as I pulled up on them, my wife who was guiding me panicked and before I knew it, the right ramp folder and the car fell onto the side of the ramp crushing it and getting lodged in the suspension.
My wife said she saw the ramp bow out under the weight as I pulled on and one side started to rotate.
I had to use 3 jacks to get the ramp out (no pics) but the thing was demolished. I took it back to Advance Auto and they swapped for the upgraded 5000 pound version.

Mine as well, apparently the ones I got (Grey in color) are made for servicing trucks and SUVs.

Never had a problem with mine either. I think he either abused it somehow or put too much weight on them. Mine I have had as much as a Titan truck on them and they didn't even budge. Mine are around 6-7 years old.
