Angry Water Puddle, AEM CAI, car idles erradic and nothing above 2500rpm

Hey guys,

I went through a puddle this afternoon going about 15 mph. The puddle probably was about an 1" to 1 1/2" for about a good 3-4 seconds. Immedialtely after exiting the puddle, the car would hesitate badly at 2500rpm in all 1-6 gears. The car runs find other than that. No Check Engine light or any others on in the dash. Drove it about 5 miles home and let it sit for a few minutes, it idles between 800-1000 rpm kind of erradicaly. I have an AEM CAI which im guessing is wet.

I'm sure this isn't going to be dealer covered, so do you have any hints on what this could be and how to correct it?

Thanks
Eric

take a look at the filter and see if it is wet, if it is then take a look in the piping and see if water got up it. If it looks to be jus tthe filter take it off and let it dry then put it back on and try again.

if your filter is pretty well soaked, i would pull the MAF sensor out and make sure it is nice and dry also. Pretty much remove your intake and dry it out. If your car didn't stall and continues to turn over then your probably fine. STAY AWAY FROM PUDDLES, if they Z was made for water it would have floaties.

I checked the filter and it is pretty wet. I am just going to blow it out with my air compressor and let it sit overnight with the heat on in the garage. I let the car run w/o the filter for a minute and it idled as it should have. If I run into any more problems I will update this thread.

Thanks
eric

Whats blue and yellow on the bottom of a pool?

-a three year old with slashed floaties...

really though, good advice here, dry everything before you drive it a bunch. You dont wanna *** up your ride.

I would, but I am actually selling the Z within a month. First baby is due in about a week so the Z definetley won't work with that. I am going to trade it in on the G37 coupe.

Although I had a lot of fun with it, I really am not to attached to the Z, I do love my 95 Supra though. I am never getting rid of that. Yeah, it is a bit bigger, bulkier, etc, but it's just better IMO.

Thanks again for all your help
Eric
