Possible Rear Axle Lube Problem?
I was reading about clicking coming from the rear of the car commonly relating to a poorly lubricated axle. I'm not sure if this is the case though, so I thought maybe someone can clear this up for me.
How frequently does the clicking occur to know it's an axle problem? For me, it's hard to reproduce as it seems to stop after the car has been driven a bit. (Even from a cold start it doesn't happen all the time) As for the clicking, it occurs very randomly. I'm almost thinking I'm just paranoid after reading about the problem, as it almost sounds like small rocks / debris hitting the under-carriage or side of my car. (Just a quick *click* and maybe another one a few minutes later)
I have a feeling if I take to the dealership they'll just tell me that they didn't see anything wrong, so I want to try and be sure, or at least more sure, before I take it in and have them tell me there's nothing wrong. I also don't want to wait too long and have this get worse. (If it is indeed a problem)
Too Long, Didn't Read Version:
I have a sound coming from the rear, occasionally, that sounds like small rocks / debris hitting my under-carriage. The sound isn't very consistent, quite random actually. Could it be the real axle? How can I make sure it's the axle?
Thanks for your help.
