Default MT problem & Warranty?? HELP

Well there is a 2003 Silver touring 6MT a few miles away that I am looking to pick up for 16k. It has 59,000 miles, stock and has been taken care of at one of the local dealerships here for all of its servicing. I know about the problems the 03's had, and the only thing I am worried about is the transmission going, seeing as the powertrain warranty is basically expired. Should I be worried or would the tranny have already showing signs of failure? Also should I purchase an extended warranty to cover this or is this something like a recall that Nissan will replace regardless? I am really looking forward to purchasing the car, but want to get some more knowledgeable input. Thanks guys,

Adam

If the tranny were defective, it would have been apparent before 59K. I think your OK with this one.

No recall.

If tranny is good now, it PROBABLY will be but no guarantee.

If you really like the car, test drive it and see if there is any grinding!!!
YOU HAVE TO TAKE THE RPM ALL THE WAY TO THE REDLINE to find out IF there is really a grind from my experience!! If you still worried, purchase with extended warrantee, problem Solved!!!!

i would just see how it feels. It would have broke by now if it was going to, but that doesn't mean the owner didn't beat on it and wear things down a bit. The trannies are beefy but unfortunatly partially defective. I have around that many miles on my '03 and things are all good.

When you buy any used car always have an extra $3,000 to cover the things the car might be sold to avoid or just wear and tear that hasn't been identified YET..............shocks are worn to 1/2 on rebound and often need replacing by 4 years or 60k, clutch condition.................to restore to near new costs.

Why does a car depereciate by 50% because that is what it will cost to restore eventually.

I Got a 2003 Daytona Blue Z with 58k for 14,900. Ended up being like 15.6 out the door. I too was worried about the Tranny issue, but I drove it and it felt smooth as hell. Have had it about 3 months with no issues so far. All Tranny defects I heard of happened early before 15k.

I took the chance cuz I got a great rate considering my credit is just decent, not great. No complaints thus far. Plan on paying it off in 3 years, then just upgrading.
