New tranny and clutch, 2003 track, grining into 6th gear, new tranny is smooth, little notchy in 2nd but not bad. 009 tranny. 19k miles, clutch is just as stiff and engages in the same spot. Thanks to John Elway nissan dealerhip in north denver, they where very nice and even detailed my car when they were done for free.

03 with about 23K miles on it. 3rd & 5th gear are sometimes grinding now and I swear the pedal is to the floor every time. So I'm gonna make an appointment soon to take it in. I think I'll purchase a new throwout bearing as well, but I might keep the clutch/flywheel the same (I think). Clutch/Flywheel is about 17 months old ACT setup.

My 03' grinds going from 4th to 5th every so often. I decided to test 5th out so i put it in neutral at about 45mph then fully depressed the clutch to the floor and attempted to put it in 5th and GRIND...every time. It's at the dealers right now. I'll let you know what happens.(Dealer review) I hope they try not to do the old "we can't repeat your claim". That's so lame. This prob. is soooo widespread.

I currently have 21,000mi. on the Z. They called me tonight and notified me that they ordered a new tranny and should have it in next week. The Service Manager stated that there is an obvious problem...no kidding. Wahoo! Not even any arguing. He was very courteous and a great help. Although, I'm not ready to fully endorse the dealership yet. I'll wait till the transmission is in. I hope this fixes the prob.

2003 Track w/almost 24K miles & APS TT. New tranny installed under powertrain warranty two days ago. The dealership didn't give me any trouble for the turbo system...said that if something got in the way, they might have to charge a little extra in labor. But none of the APS TT parts got in the way, and I wasn't charged anything for labor. I did purchase a new throw-out bearing though.

ok few questions for you Z owners. I am about to pick up a 03 track with 3100 miles. If I have tranny problems will it still be covered since I didn't buy it new?
This will be my first nissan and I am kinda worried. I have had supras and IS300's. My 02 Is300 had a noisy throw out bearing and took to the dealer and they said yeap its the throw out bearing so we are going to install a new tranny, clutch, bearing, and flywheel. The service at lexus is bar none.
Will Nissan treat me well or am I makin g mistake buying a nissan?

The car itself carries a manufacturers warranty, so you should check to see where you stand with that, not so much not being the original owner.
Someone told me before I had my facts wrong on this, but I did ask a local dealer on one of my visits there, and that is what they told me.
With it being an '03, an us being through most of '06 now, you are coming up on what I believe is the 3/36, but you should still have 5/60 powertrain.
The only problem, that I can see at this point, is if your VIN has been input on the Nissan Side for "do not honor warranty" blacklist.

Also, all dealers have a list like that.
it's not as easy to get on that list as it used to be, due to various laws that allow the owner to modify their car, but of course there are limitations to that.
