Rear diff/subframe leak (w/pics)
Whats goin on w/ this? Is it anything to be concerned with? Its not wet, but appears to have a slight leak. Why/how would this be leaking and is it going to become a big problem in the future? It doesnt seem like a moving part. Is diff fluid coming out of it?
As of right now it seems like its burning off or drying up completly. It's not dripping or anything in my garage, so as of today Im not too concerned, but down the road...i donno.
What do you think?
Here's the spot its coming from. (the circular thing)

Another looking towards the rear of the car from underneath:

ok. What are some of the consequences of leaving it alone for now? Will it get worse, or has the silicone leaked out and thats all thats going to happen? Premature wear on the diff? On a scale of 1 -10 how much should I worry about it?
I have the same problem. I'm guessing this is a shop fix. It looks like you would have to drop the whole differential? Can anyone clarify ?
I looked up prices and the cheapest i saw was 110 dollars on ebay, and 209 dollars was the next .. did little research though.

check SPL for price. you need the three piece set.
I did my own install (with a friend) and it took a long time, and required a machine shop to press out the old bearings as my car had substantial miles on it.
it is but is not an easy job and I had access to a lift the whole time. getting that carrier bushing out requires you to destroy the bushing to cut the race out. a shop would drop the subframe and blowtorch it out in most cases.

Does it improve traction any? Is it louder with the SPL solid bushing inside the car?
