Exclamation Overheating problem after new radiator

I took my Z out of the shop after a small wreck on the right side of the bumper/fender.
It worked well for about 5 miles, then it started overheating. It didn't smoke or anything, the temp just went all the way to H. I was already about 300 ft from my house so I just parked it in the garage.

I'm not car tech savvy at all, and I plan on taking it back to the shop tomorrow. But either way, I thought I'd check here to see if anyone had any ideas as to what it *could* be, so I can throw some options at the dude at the shop.

Anyways, they replaced the radiator, the radiator core support, the fans, and (i'm not sure what its called) the heater panel(?)

The guy supposedly refilled the power steering fluid, the radiator fluid, and the oil. The radiator fluid reservoir on the side is empty, and I didnt have a chance to open the radiator fluid cap, since it was still hot when I was messing with it.

Btw, I'll post a pic of the car as it is now, finished with a V2 bumper and Seibon TS hood.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hopefully he put in a new thermostat also. Like Sean said though, probably didn't get the system purged properly either. There are quite a few threads on here about the horrors of purging a Z.

No, I didn't, but I'll be sure to ask him this today. I'll be seeing him in a few hours.

Thanks!

Usually just allowing the car to run with the coolant-cap off, will bleed the system.

Start the car with it off, don't take it off while the car is hot, I don't wanna get sued when your face is burnt off

LOL ok. And (just wondering) how does air make the car's temp go up?
I'm gonna go try it right now.

It still overheats. I waited unti it started almost spurting out. I then turned off the car and put the cap back on. It take a lot longer to start overheating but it still does. and the fans turn on at full speed...

Lift your front end up to elevate the front of the car. There is a purge valve at the rear of the car's cooling system. Search the forums for "purging coolant" or something to the effect for the complete directios. Taking the radiator cap will not suffice. You have to purge the air in the cooling system from the rear purge valve while adding coolant. Took my awhile to figure this out when I flushed my coolant a few miles back, but I guarantee you its air and not the thermostat.

yup rev to like 3-4k. ad water till it flows out. test if it keeps overheating. post back when all is well.
keep the reservoir filled.
just keep an eye on the gauge, stop if its 3/4. or just walk.
