Default diagnostic code

Hi, my check engine light came on. I received diagnostic code 0442, in my manual for p0442 it has "Evaporative Emissions Control System Leak Detected(small leak)" Would anyone know what this means? I also get a U1F but I could not find that code. Help please

P0442 is a code for your gas cap, it needs to be replaced, or u or the attendant at the pump, just left it loose.

Possible. Click the gas cap 3 times.

um Im a new owner of an 04 model. I got a 0442 code as well. does a new cap fix the problem? i get it reset but it comes back every other day. I dont know the history of the car but would this also mean my car probably never had the recall work with the vent hoses? sorry fraustrated noob here... can I clear the service engine light myself somehow?

Several ways of clearing the SES light - pedal method ECU reset, sometimes just disconnecting the battery for a while, or go somewhere where they will scan for free and then erase the code. But if it keeps coming back on every other day, I would fix the cause. And don't think the recall issue would cause it. Try the new cap.
