Default Heat from floor

Hi guys,

I have a 2003 Touring. I've been searching but I don't think this is a problem anyone here has had before. After about 10-15 minutes of driving my Z, I notice a lot of warmth coming from the floor of my car in the cabin. A mechanic told me that it's probably the heat from the catalytic converters and that they're SUPPOSED to get that hot... but I have never driven a car that has so much heat coming from the cats that you can actually start feeling it through the floor of the car! It just seems like all that heat isn't supposed to be there. Is this normal?

The motor, drive train and exhaust makes lots of heat.

On a 60 degree day drive with the windows open. Put you hand on the floor or side of the center console.

On a 80 degree day when driving in shorts, stop the car, put your leg out. You can feel the heat from under the car.

Keep in mind that, for example, a Cadillac**wound have 100 pounds of insulation keeping out the heat and noise. The 350Z does not.

It's nomal. I have the 03 Touring also. Hotter than chit by my feet. In the summer, sometimes I concentrate the A/C setting on the floor only, just so my feet don't sweat...
