Default Hydraulic Jack - Rebuild / Repair ?

I own what was once a decent ($250) hydraulic floor jack, but it has long lost it's pressure and holding power.

Have any of you ever successfully rebuilt one of these ?

did you try to refill the hydraulic fluid and bleed it first? jacks require maintenance

+1.

If it's a craftsman, it should have a lifetime warranty...

It is a Dayton floor jack that was purchased from Grainger.

I called Grainger and they no-longer carry replacement or rebuild kits.

A Google search yielded a hit at toolsandhydraulic.com. They have a rebuild kit for my jack for $23.00. I do not know if it will solve my problem, but for that price it is worth a try.

I am not sure, but I suspect I may have used brake fluid in this jack (like a dumbass) a couple of years ago. I now know that this is a big no-no.

Readers beware: Do not use brake fluid in a hydraulic jack.
