mods feel free to move this thread, i didnt know for sure where to post it. Today i was driving back from work, just normal driving, nothing hard or unusual, and as i was accelerating from a light, when i shifted into second, i guess the syncros REALLY screwed up or something. Lately, my second gear synco has screwed up here and there, and will grind gears as i shift. (sometimes really bad, sometimes just a little rough) Today as i shifted into second, the gears gound violently so i backed off, but then the shifter as though it had a mind of its own pulled itself about 3/4 back into gear, then back out and then all the way into gear. Keep in mind i wasnt touching the shifter at that time. i put it in neutral and pulled to a stop and there was a nasty smell coming from my car. it wasnt clutch brakes or tires, im familiar with those smells, this was something i hadnt smelled before. I drove home with out any issues whatsoever. I am not new to driving stick, and i am a valet, so i have driven all sorts of cars with all sorts of transmission problems, but i have yet to see anything like this. Is this just a fluke that happened to me and i probably wont ever deal with it again, or should i be worried? thanks for any help yall can offer.

+1, i see that the car is an 04, have you had your tranny fluids changed?

 

+1 also if you take this in to get it checked out sheck your tranny fluid level if it is low it will void your warranty.

 

sorry for the late reply, ive been busy. its an 06, ive only had the car for 3 months now, but the dealer said that tranny fluids had been changed.
