Motor Seized | HR swap wanted, need info
Hey guys,
After my post earlier this week I had the car on jackstands digging through the motor to find out if the worst had happened. I was nearly certain my motor was seized and sent it to my old race buddy/shop owner at Power Rev Racing for a second opinion.
The block is definitely done and now I'm looking for a swap. I'm very interested in the Rev-Up motor from the newer 350Z (mine is a 2003 6spd Enthusiast). I'm just not certain what needs to be changed to make this happen. And I'm throwing myself out there to any assistance from forum members, experts, and vendors.
As far as I know I'm going to need the Rev-Up ECU (it has an immobilizer), new ignition and programmed key. Also wiring harness and i'm assuming sensors and the like will come with the block.
Thanks in advance for any help!
Cheers,
Gus

Yeah that's what I thought. So the only way to differentiate a 03 VQ35DE and a VQ35DE Rev-Up is the model year? It has the same engine code? I'm just curious as to how I would differentiate by looking at the block. I may just call Performance Nissan and see if one of the boys can assist. They've definitely been good to me over the years.
Thanks for the info! Keep it coming :]

By far I think you want the HR, If I remember correctly the RevUp motor has issues that will cause you to do this all over again. Stick with the DE or go to the HR. I think a DE with High compression pistons, good rods, HD lightweight valve springs and retainers, revised ECU tuning, and upgraded plenum (full or spacer) I think you can put out more horses than either option with relibility and no major modifications that will cause issues in the future.
